National Pet Day

In honor of National Pet day, and because my last pet post was rather sad…

Our sweet pup Vita came to us last fall at about 8 weeks old. She arrived at a time when our hearts were broken over the loss of our cat. She also entered our home as it was on the market, Vita had to endure the chaos of moving, travelling half way across the country and back, and plenty of hotel stays. We pretty much missed her puppy days because of everything going on.

Boy, was she a cutey!

We were thrilled at the idea of getting to experience another round of puppy snuggles, but our sweet Rufus was rather skittish and didn’t like be held. We assumed he had been abused in his last home, which was heart-breaking! We loved him as best as we could, and in the end, he did let us hold him a bit longer.

After his death, I did not want to bring any more animals into our home. My heart was broken, and didn’t want to get attached again. But, we got a picture from the family that gave us Vita. They had another litter, and thought maybe, we’d like another?!

If you don’t know much about Blue Heelers, let me tell you…… They are crazy!!! They are practically wild animals, and probably not the best first puppy to get. But they are so loving, loyal and very smart! So, when we saw the cutey little puppies, our hearts instantly thought of how great our Vita is. We knew it was probably worth it to try once again.

We made the drive, snuggled all the puppies available and decided on this sweetie pie! Meet Blue! Our newest pet-member of the family. He is 5 weeks old and still has that adorable puppy breath!!! And, oh does he love to chew and bite everything (& I mean everything!)

He is Vita’s biological brother, just from another litter. We do plan on making this our very last puppy (I still need to jump on the chicken band-wagon!!)

If you have the ability, I highly recommend now as a great time to get a new puppy. Being home, with everything canceled is a fabulous time to train a new puppy. Plus, puppy snuggles are the cure for almost every ailment!
