One New Start and One Sad End

Call me crazy, or maybe just busy. But somehow, it’s already been five weeks since our Farm Cat Momma, Susan, has had her most recent batch of kittens.

My handy hubby had worked furiously one weekend to build a new home for the cats, far away from the front door of our house. And, magically that Monday morning there were 6 little additions to our cat family. Four healthy boys and two healthy girls. Three all black, two striped, and one solid gray. Our hearts were bursting with joy over these sweet babies.

Things were going rather routine. Very smooth for this second time (in less than six months!!) momma cat. Until one fateful day…

We came to realize our Tom Cat hadn’t been seen in a few days. We assumed that he was marking territory or making rounds to other “friends.” But, as is turned out, he seems to be no more. And we have no clue what happened. (A few days later, we also noticed five ducks had “disappeared.” Coincidence?!)

Goodbye to our sweet “Thomas O’Malley” (originally named, Tom Vader.) He not only became the sweetest cat of all time, he still enjoyed being held like a baby up until his parting days. We will always remember him!

In order to have life, the world must have death.

The babies are beautiful and so cuddly. They are the balm to our sad hearts. Each time we look at his offspring, we will be reminded of Tom.
