Shortly after we moved to our property, we came up with a fun idea…. Puppies!! At this time, we just had our first puppy, Vita, who was about 8 months old. (We got her while we stilled lived “in town,” so she is naturally a city-girl-turned-country-girl, like me!)
Then a friend came across an abandoned puppy, and graciously gave him to us. They could grow up together, and one day, (Please, be in the summertime!) have a batch of babies.
Our sweet Rufus didn’t make it very long on our farm. And, we quickly came across another buddy for our lonely lady pup. This new buddy happened to be Vita’s biological brother, which meant somebody had to get fixed.
At this point, we had had 3 puppies over the span of six months. I was more than happy to give up the “fun” idea of having a litter of puppies. I had my fill of puppies.
Or so I thought….
As I have learned on a farm, you should never say never to more animals.
We secretly all had been hoping for a cuddle-bug pup that was a lot more like one of our friends’ dogs. A sweet Black Lab that comes when you call, fetches, and actually snuggles with you. And, just like the rest of our pups, this precious little lady came to us!
With that, may I introduce our latest farm addition……
Nala Sofi (nicknamed Nalie)
We are big on names around here. Our theme seems to be four-lettered names (minus the cats who have a combined average of four letters?!) Nala was the name of a kitten we had temporarily at our last home. And, the family who had this sweet girl originally named her Nollie, after Corrie Ten Boom’s sister.
We are so in love with this cute little girl! She has been a fun and cuddly addition to our family. And, really a third (or technically fourth) puppy is not much more work than two.
